With the haze back, outdoor team days have become a gamble. On 9 October, the 24-hour PSI in central Singapore hit 186, the highest reading of 2026. At unhealthy levels, NEA advises cutting back on prolonged or strenuous outdoor activity, and the dry season may not end until late October or early November.
So when AirTrunk wanted to bring its team together, they skipped the smog and headed to Kitchen Showdown for a cooking team building session.

How AirTrunk cooked up a team win
The AirTrunk team took on our Amazing Race challenge. Split into teams, they raced through a series of food-themed tasks against the clock, then headed into the kitchen to roll fresh Vietnamese spring rolls and whip up mango sago for dessert. Job titles disappeared the moment the aprons went on, and the day ended with everyone sitting down to enjoy what they had made together.
Why cooking is the ideal haze-proof activity
- Everyone can join. It is fully indoor and air-conditioned, so no one with asthma or a sensitive chest has to sit out.
- No cancellations. Your event goes ahead whatever the PSI says that morning.
- Real teamwork. Nobody can cook, plate and watch the clock alone, so teams have to plan and communicate.
- No experience needed. Our facilitators guide every team from start to finish.
- A shared reward. The session ends with a meal the whole team made together.
Don’t cancel. Move indoors.
Since 2015, Kitchen Showdown has brought Singapore teams together through culinary challenges built on the Power of Play. If the haze has derailed your plans, tell us your group size and preferred date, and we will design a session that keeps your team together, and breathing easy.
